The Batman, Colin Farrell explains why he won't smoke in the movie

Apparently, the study objected. Why doesn't the Penguin smoke in The Batman?

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, starring Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, will (finally) be released in theaters on March 3. Every day new details emerge, interviews with cast and crew members, more or less funny backstories, spoilers, and lately even the first reviews. Today it's up to Colin Farrell to tell his story. The actor plays Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, the Penguin, one of Batman's best-known enemies. 

The images we were able to see show a very different Penguin from what the fans expected. Furthermore, the heavy make-up worn by Farell makes the actor almost unrecognizable. Another feature that the character had in his previous appearances was the fact that he smoked. This aspect will also disappear in The Batman. Colin Farrell himself explains it.

“Major studios make big decisions about things like cigarettes in movies. I fought valiantly for a cigar. At one point I said: 'I can keep it off! Let me keep it off! 'But they said no. As if a group of 12-year-olds could start smoking Cuban cigars for this “. 

Farrell then spoke in a more particular way of the character that he will also play in a series for HBO Max: "He does not have the energy of the Penguin that we know from comics and previous films. I'd like to continue investigating the character because he's not a boss, he's just a Falcone soldier at this stage, but he has big ambitions. 

He is an extraordinary character to investigate, his strangeness, his strength, his wickedness, his propensity for violence. But he is also a man with a broken heart, which makes it all really intriguing. I would love to do it again. But I will not believe it until I have put on the costume and the make-up “.
