James Gunn is trying to rebuild DC Studios, after years of semi-flop on the big screen. To achieve this, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad says he is collaborating with Jim Lee, Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, to ensure better coordination between the two entities.
Gunn posted a statement on his Mastodon account in response to strong fan feedback regarding the many alleged or confirmed changes he's made since taking over DC Studios with Peter Safran last October. In response to a fan who commented wondering what the director has done to ensure that cinema and comics are now coordinated, Gunn replied: "I'm working on this with my friend Jim Lee." Many artists who are part of the DC Universe have urged the public to be patient and to give them time to work on the new universe.
DC Studios: the protagonist of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Zachary Levi, urges the audience to be patient
The actor, during a recent live broadcast on Instagram, spoke about the current situation in DC: “I'm not the boss, I have no idea what the hell is going on, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that I loved Walter Hamada. I have loved him as a boss, I love him as a human being and I hope to work with him wherever he goes. But I couldn't have picked two better people to lead the DC Universe in the direction it's going."
Speaking of the movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods Zachary Levi added, “At this point and right now I'm still that character [Shazam]. I haven't had conversations with the bosses. We have a movie that's literally coming out in March, and I have no idea what's going to happen to me next. I think I'm in a pretty good position…”. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
